Due to strong river flows, high water levels, low temps, and heavy precipitation, live staking in our chosen area is NOT safe this weekend. This weekend's event will be postponed until Sunday, February 23.
Volunteers will meet for a brief installation training then work downstream through Evendale and Reading. Details will be provided as date approaches. Due to weather and stream conditions dates and times may need to change.
This event will be a hands dirty feet wet experience! Participants will be installing dormant live willow stakes *in the streambank at the water's edge.* Will you help us restore the Mill Creek Watershed? Learn more at: https://www.hcswcd.org/live-staking.html
Please be prepared for winter weather outdoors and bring:
PPE: long sleeves, long pants, hat, protective eyewear, sunscreen, work gloves, etc
Refillable water bottle and snacks
Rubber boots or waders are preferred; Closed-toed shoes that may get muddy are good 2nd choice.
A warm change of clothes left in the car for afterwards is recommended.
