Due to strong river flows, high water levels, low temps, and heavy precipitation, live staking in our chosen area is NOT safe this weekend. This weekend's event will be postponed until Saturday, February 22.
Mill Creek Yacht Club invites you to harvest live willow stakes from 1 to 4 pm. Volunteers will meet at Heritage park. This is a hands dirty, feet wet experience that may or may not involve the use of boats. Warm clothes, waders, and a warm change of clothes will be needed. Bring sharp tools if you have them as a limited number of tools will be available.
To learn more about the process of harvesting live stakes, visit the Hamilton County Conservation District’s new webpage about the Greater Cincinnati Live Staking Initiative where you will find diagrams and videos about the process.
Stakes will be planted on Sunday, February 16th, in and around Reading, Lockland, and Evendale.
(Registration will say “Workparty with the MCA A-Team”). Those who register will receive additional information via email before the event.
