The Mill Creek as a prized natural, recreational, and economic asset
The Mill Creek Alliance is a nonprofit with a long and strong history. since 1994, our legacy organizations have accomplished great work to restore the mill creek watershed.
The Alliance provides comprehensive solutions to many of the problems faced by our constituent communities. Our approach includes:
Working with local jurisdictions, developing intergovernmental long range planning projects that recover & improve the watershed corridor and support community & economic development (restore habitat, reduce flood damage, stabilize stream banks, solve stormwater challenges, and promote invasive species control)
Improving water quality through stream restoration, water quality management and research, reintroduction of native species, and development of public green spaces (edible gardens, trails, and more)
Encouraging community engagement with the watershed through recreation activities, community outreach programs, school programs, volunteer events (clean ups, tree plantings, edible gardens, trail maintenance), and environmental education programs
Transforming the natural and built environment of marginalized communities by offering restoration services
Transforming neglected land and waterways into assets that our neighborhoods need to be healthy and resilient
