Created in 1995, the Mill Creek Alliance (MCA) focuses on environmental restoration of the river and its natural resources and engages Mill Creek neighborhoods through environmental education, restoration, and recreation.  MCA offers groups one-day opportunities for service at environmental restoration sites throughout the Mill Creek Watershed. Activities can be arranged for groups of all ages and abilities.

A Service Learning Day with us typically lasts 4 hours and includes an orientation to environmental issues in our area, to safety, and to the techniques we’ll use that day.  We do a minimum of 1½ hours of work with plenty of time for lunch and personal reflection activities.  We can always modify activities to suit your needs.

Through our programs participants have removed acres of invasive plants, built a wood-chip walking path for community access to natural sites, collected wildflower seeds for future projects, and maintained the quality of previous restoration projects for the benefit of people and wildlife.

Sites have included Caldwell Park, Salway Park, creek and forest sites adjacent to Woodlawn Recreation Center, Twin Creeks Nature Preserve, and more.

Please contact us to discuss how you can give back to your community with an MCA Service Learning program.
