Guests are invited to spend the morning with us participating in adventures (registration required), engaging in a variety of activities at their own pace to learn about the watershed, and discussing the history, triumphs and benefits (i.e. social, economic, recreation, environmental, health and transportation) of the Mill Creek’s pedestrian and water trails. Morning culminates with lunch and a brief formal program. MORE DETAILS COMING SOON!

ADVENTURES

Canoe Trip

Enjoy a very special adventure with the Mill Creek Yacht Club and Commodore Koehler. Prepare to be amazed as you explore 1 mile of urban stream from Northside to South Cumminsville. You will gain insight about the importance of our region's environmental assets and outdoor recreation opportunities.  All equipment is provided.  You are welcome to bring your own if you have one!  Reservations will be available until all canoe seats are full.

Bike Ride

Join us for a guided 5-mile community bike ride exploring the Mill Creek corridor and surrounding neighborhoods. This relaxed, conversational-paced ride will include several short interpretation stops highlighting local history, infrastructure, and community-led revitalization efforts. Helmets are required. A limited number of bikes may beavailable to borrow.Come ready to learn and connect.

Nature Walk/Hike 

Choose from one of two .7 mile hikes along the banks of the Mill Creek. Explore the natural habitat, read the landscape, experience the views, converse with neighbors about the vision for the area,

Stream Water Quality and Habitat Evaluation

Join Mill Creek Alliance educators Rufaro Bulathsinghalage and Gretchen Nieberding for a hands-on, field investigation. This interactive session introduces the Citizens Qualitative Habitat Evaluation Index (cQHEI), a method used by environmental professionals to evaluate stream health. Discover the importance of stream habitats, explore how they support local ecosystems, and practice real-world field techniques. Waders and/or boots will be provided.

Event History

This event started in 2019 as a way of bringing stakeholders together to talk about the opportunities the Mill Creek offers to our region. We have held the event in Evendale, Spring Grove Village, Reading, Lower Price Hill, and this year in Woodlawn and Wyoming.
