13th Annual Upper Mill Creek Cleanup
On Saturday, October 18th, we'll clean up the Mill Creek by land and canoe along the banks of the Mill Creek in Evendale near Cunningham Drive. Volunteers will meet at a MCA restoration site at 9:00 a.m. where folks will be organized into teams to tackle various projects in the Upper Mill Creek watershed.
The cleanups will occur in and along the stream, so be prepared for walking through thick brush and getting muddy. Please dress appropriately and wear closed toe footwear. The land cleanup is suitable for people of all ages and activity levels. Land crews will be planting and caging trees, seeding stream banks, and removing invasive honeysuckle. Canoe volunteer spaces are limited and available only to members of the public age 18 or older. Canoe crew work is hands dirty feet wet work, where boats are really just large trash receptacles, it is not really paddling! All cleanup crews will meet back up around noon to unload their spoils, enjoy some food and refreshments, and tell grand stories of their exploits.
Volunteers may wish to bring their own tools or borrow ours. If you bring your own, please be sure to mark them to identify ownership.
Don’t miss this opportunity to help keep your streams clean and communities beautiful!
Registrations is limited for Cleanup by Canoe (get tickets while they last; canoe ticket sales end 10/16 at 9 am). Cleanup by Land registration closes at 9am Friday, October 17th. Volunteers will receive scheduling details as the event gets closer. Contact Linda Keller with questions about the event at 513-563-8800 or lkeller@themillcreekalliance.org.
