2024 MCYC Mill Creek Valley Cleanup by Canoe

SAVE THE DATE!
________________________________________

Celebrate EARTH DAY by joining the Mill Creek Yacht Club for the 30th Annual Cleanup by Canoe in the northern Mill Creek Watershed!

Starting in April 1995, this community service event has been done in concert with the MCYC, Mill Creek Alliance, and local Public Works Departments.

Come wearing waders, boots, or sturdy shoes that you don't mind getting wet and muddy. No open toed shoes allowed. Cleanup crews in the boats meet in the early morning with the canoe mostly used as a vessel for carrying trash and “artifacts” hauled out of the creek. Take-out crews help offload the spoils from canoes to dumpster at the end of the cleanup.

Seats are limited. This year’s efforts will be divided between Evendale and Reading. Team Evendale will include young professionals from GE (General Electric) working between Glendale Milford Rd and The Acres to pickup trash and plant native seeds in the riparian cooridor. Team Reading will start at The Acres and work their way down to Reading to scour this section for trash and tires. (FYI, routes will be modified as needed to accomodate for weather and pickup needs). Those who register will receive email updates on event details as needed.
