Join the Mill Creek Yacht Club for a stream adventure. Paddle from the Public Landing on the Ohio River to the Mill Creek Barrier Dam. Optional pedal to put in on your bike with the group! Those who choose not to ride a bike to the put in will be shuttled in the MCA van.
Paddling with the seasoned guides of the Mill Creek Yacht Club is the best way to experience the wonders of the Mill Creek while learning about our long-abused but surprisingly resurgent urban stream.
Join the Commodore and other Yacht Club veterans on Saturday, August 26th, as we explore the Mill Creek and the Ohio River in our boats. On this urban stream adventure you will paddle from the heart of downtown Cincinnati, under highways and bridges, into the mouth of the Mill Creek, upriver 1/2 mile, past historic infrastructure, and into the Mill Creek Barrier Dam. Total distance of the paddle is about 3 miles and time on the water less than 3 hours, with educational stops along the way. In addition, there will at least an hour of combined time on land before and after the paddle.
If you wish, you can bring a bike and pedal with the group from the take out (Mill Creek Barrier Dam at 800 Evans Street) to the put in (Public Landing at 435 E Mehring Way) before the paddle. There will also be a vehicle shuttle available before the paddle.
All equipment is provided, including canoe and life jackets. (We do not have kayaks but you are welcome to bring your own if you have one!) Registration is required and will be available until all canoe seats are full.
