MCYC and MCA invite you to join us on Mill Creek for an urban stream adventure. Paddling with the seasoned guides of the Mill Creek Yacht Club is the best way to experience the wonders of the Mill Creek while learning about our long-abused but surprisingly resurgent urban stream. MCYC supplies all necessary equipment for the paddle trip.
Join the Commodore and other Yacht Club veterans on Saturday, July 16th, as we explore the Mill Creek and Ohio River in our boats. On this urban stream adventure we start our paddle on the Ohio River with panoramic views of the Ohio River bridges, river front parks, the industrial might of the Cincinnati port operations, and the bridge of the only City owned interstate rail line. From there we paddle up the Mill Creek- passing under former aqueduct of the Cincinnati canal to pass through the Barrier Dam. We continue up the Mill Creek to enjoy the beauty of tree-lined riparian corridor. We takeout at the Barrier Dam access ramp under the soaring span of the 8th Street Viaduct.
After parking at the Barrier Dam and shuttling, the paddling voyage will commence at the Public Landing along the Ohio River in downtown Cincinnati and finish at the Barrier Dam on the Mill Creek, a distance of about 4 miles. We will spend about 3 hours on the water with educational stops along the way, plus about an hour of combined time on the land before and after paddling.
