Announcing the Mill Creek’s 1st Ever Pop-Up Canoe Livery

Rent a Canoe and Explore the Resurgent Mill Creek

  • WHERE: Start: Mitchell Ave, next to the I-75 South on-ramp. End:   Salway Park, next to the Old Timber Inn

  • COST: $20/canoe (1-3 paddlers), includes paddles and life jackets. Reserve Early, Space is Limited.

Ever explored an urban waterway? The Mill Creek runs right through the heart of Cincinnati and is packed with nature – beavers, herons, many species of fish and invertebrates – but also bears the scars from human development and degradation. Come see the tug of war between humans and nature playing out before your eyes. (Hint: Nature is very resilient, and Mother Nature always bats last.)

This trip will cover about a mile and a half of creek and takes about 1 hour to paddle. Feel free to extend your trip by stopping to play or explore along the way. Paddlers are encouraged to place a bicycle at the takeout before canoeing to pedal back to the start, or to walk back. The route follows the Mill Creek Greenway Trail, which is mostly off-road, with only 1 street crossing.

Note: Streams contain natural and human-caused pathogens. The water quality in the Mill Creek is on a par with the Little Miami River and other recreational waterways in the region, but that’s not to say that it is risk free. There are other risks inherent to canoeing. Please read and consider the cautions and disclosures on the sign-up web site.
