RESCHEDULED: Live stake installation originally scheduled for March 6th has been rescheduled. During this four hour event we will be installing live-stakes (willow cuttings). The live stakes will be planted into the eroded banks of the Mill Creek. Planting will be done from within the stream channel. There are opportunities to plant from canoes or to access the banks by foot.
Live stakes are planted using a stake, similar to a piece of rebar, and mallet to create pilot holes that live-stakes can be placed in. Pilot holes are created at a 90 degree angel to the ground. Live-stakes are inserted pointy end down, so that 1/2 to 2/3 of the live-stake is planted in soil.
